MHKU trains artisans and supplies them with raw materials to make goods, thus trying to make them self-reliant. The MHKU factory provides end-to-end processing of cloth from raw material to designer attire and dyeing, printing, stitching, embroidery, etc is done there.
“We started a project a decade ago in Vasai where we employed unemployed people. We not only trained these artisans but also developed their design sensibility. Then we started supplying to different places and finally now decided to open our own store,’ says Jaffar Shaikh, founder, MHKU, who has an experience of 30 years in the textile industry.
When we dropped by, we realised that the store, ends before it starts. However, the compact space stalks a variety of products ranging from readymade kurtas, dress materials to sarees and even bed sheets amongst other things.
