After the success of her recently released album Such is Life, actor Suchitra Pillai will perform her first-ever gig with her band at Blue Frog this weekend

With obvious glee, Suchitra Pillai reveals that she discovered her love for music at a very young age. Having sung in choirs and for television jingles as a child, the RJ and actor grew up nurturing the urge to pursue her singing career.

In 2006, she had her first big release when Hollywood director Willard Carol handpicked her track Yaara for the Bollywood-Hollywood collaborative movie called Marigold. She has formed a band very recently and is all geared up for her first gig at Blue Frog.

Affirming that her band would play bilingual Pop-Rock, Suchitra says, "Well, my songs are in Hindi and English with an emphasis on live sound."

Though she likes listening to Soft Rock and Trance, she can't stand head banging Hard Rock, she reveals. U2, Tracy Chapman and Sheryl Crow's music influenced on her music, she admits.

Suchitra is not just a singer, but also an engineer, VJ and a talented actor. She has also trained in Carnatic music as a teenager andu00a0 has done theatre as well.

She sang with the British band Kula Shaker and has also appeared in music videos of artists such as Oasis, Apache Indian, Rashid Taha and Talvin Singh. In May this year, she released the album Such is Life online with Artistaloud records. "The response has been good."

When asked if she would like to be the voice of any of the Bollywood actors, she says, "Why not? I would love to sing for Bollywood.

A true musician should not refuse to sing any kind of music. If you sing songs of different genres, it shows how versatile you are as a singer," she signs off.u00a0
