Play on the go: Six must have smartphone games

Monument Valley 2
The Escher-esque puzzle game is back with a familiar, yet equally brilliant, sequel. The game this time features two playable characters, Ro and her daughter. You have to activate buttons and change perspectives to figure out each puzzle. The next puzzle only unlocks once you have finished the previous one. The new one is longer than its predecessor with 14 chapters, which we think is still too little.

Modern Combat 5
If you are looking for something to scratch that Counter Strike itch, download Modern Combat 5. The game has seven customisable classes of warriors, including sniper, recon, support and assault. Your players skills can be upgraded using skill points. You can also give your character a slight edge with equipment and tactical armour. The game lets you combat as a squad. For single players, there is also the option of completing the solo campaign.

NBA 2k17
The is one of the best mobile sports games. The graphics are top notch and possibly the best among mobile sport games. The MyCareer mode is a lot of fun — you get to create your own character and play college basketball before you are drafted in the NBA. The controls are simple and easy to learn; don't be surprised when your player pulls off some crazy moves.

Injustice 2
Injustice 2 mobile is a fun superhero brawler that emulates its more sophisticated cousins. The major selling point of this game is that it costs nothing. The game features a huge roster of DC characters and simple controls that are a breeze to learn. Like its big brother, Injustice 2 lets you collect these characters and upgrade and level them up.

Asphalt Xtreme
We all love and play the hugely popular Asphalt, but have you tried out Asphalt Xtreme yet? Essentially, this version of Asphalt lets you ride around in dune buggies, monster trucks and rally cars across a terrain that is anything but the smooth asphalt of the other games. The game uses familiar controls available in the other versions, but because of the terrain, this game is a lot harder. There are various modes – elimination, versus and online – that let the game truly shine. The game is free, but you can progress faster and skip the grinding for tokens if you are willing to pay.

Unkilled
Zombie killing games are a rage these days, and Unkilled is arguably one of the best in the mobile space. For starters, this game looks amazing — there are tonnes of weapons, zombies and zombie bosses. There is also a sense of massive unending hordes of zombies. With hundreds of missions, and the nice lengthy story mode, you can finish the game at your own pace.
