Toyota’s newest offering in the MPV segment, the Innova Crysta has received an overwhelming response from die-hard fans of the Innova badge. Despite carrying a fairly higher price tag than its predecessor, the Crysta has garnered more than 30,000 bookings since its launch in May 2016. With demands being consistent, the carmaker has decided to ramp-up the Crysta’s production in order to bring down the waiting period, which currently stands at over three months.

In May, Toyota was able to sell 7,259 units of the Innova Crysta, registering it in the top 10 sellers of the month. The strong sales continued in June, with the MPV retailing 7,500 units. Interestingly, 50 per cent of the Crysta's sales came from the automatic version.
Director and Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing at Toyota Kirloskar Motor, N Raja said, “Since the launch of the Innova Crysta we have done up to 30,000 bookings, out of which 50 per cent are for the automatic transmission variant. Currently, we have a waiting period of over three months. We are increasing production. In May when we started we were producing around 6,000 units. In June, it went up to around 7,800 units. Going forward, depending on demand, we expect to maintain that level.”
The MPV has managed to topple the Hyundai Creta and the Maruti Vitara Brezza to steer itself to the ninth spot in the top sellers of June. The mounting sales of the Innova Crysta have helped the company register a 30 per cent year-on-year growth for the month of June.
