The Sunday brunch at the Lalit has world famous cuisines. But it will delight you with tiny little desi surprises
Brunch at the Lalit. Great idea. Getting out of the couch and stepping out of home on a Sunday after a week of cabin confinement? Not so great idea! But The Lalit is always a delight. And with such wonderful weather, cloudy with the sweet promise of a drizzle after a week of sweltering summer heat, we decided to try out the champagne brunch at The Lalit last Sunday.
What the hotel's famed 24/7 restaurant had on offer was a delectable culinary array comprising perfectly crafted delicacies from Asian, European, Thai, Lebanese and other world famous cuisines. To fit with the Sunday mood, there was the finest champagne to go with the food. All these, as we looked out into the open expanse as rains swept the world outside.

Quite a fare
Much to our culinary delight, the restaurant had laid out a choice comprisingu00a0 Lamb Chops, Red Snapper, Baked potatoes, a range of satays, a varieties of kebabs, Pulaos and Biryanis, Steaks, Soups, Pizzas, Salads and lot more, to tickle the tastebuds. The brunch menu had Asian, Indian, European, Lebanese, Thai, Chinese and Japanese.
It's mind boggling
What was on offer was mind boggling. A scrumptious spread of Roasted Turkey, Oyster Rockefeller, Peking Duck, Black Olive Crusted Salmon Steak, German Bratwurst with Braised Onions, Pork Chops, Tarts filled with Spicy Asparagus and Corn, Tenderloin Tornadoes with Black Pepper Sauce, Baked potatoes complimented with grated Cheddar Cheese, Parmesan, Sour Cream, Green Peas, Spring Onions and Salsa. Phew! But what really touched our hearts was the fact that the chef had taken pains to prepare some Kolkata delicacies like Jhaal moori (puffed rice with onions, chopped chillies and just a hint of mustard oil) and peyanji (onion mixed in besan and deep fried). It took us back to the City of Joy a decade ago when we were still young and on a rainy day like this would savour such delicacies. Really, thoughtful.
Making space
If after a meal like this, you can still make space for some dessert, which we did being the gluttons we are, you can end your afternoon with a selection of Exotic Fruits, Flamb ufffded Crepes, and over 15 dessert items including mousses, cheesecakes, pastries and a variety of Indian Sweets as well. Go, try. Make your Sunday memorable.
