Dear Diana,
I have been friends with this girl in my neighbourhood since my childhood days. We attended the same school as well as the same college. We were close buddies for years, till we started working. She took up a job at an event management company, while I work in a bank. Over a period of time, we barely met and spoke. As we live in the same residential complex, we, however, keep bumping into each other. What I have been observing for the past three months is the drastic change in her her. She has lost weight, chopped her long tresses short and has completely changed her dressing style. It is as if she is another person. When I asked her about it, she took offence. She sent me a SMS saying that I was rude to her. I was taken aback by her behaviour. What should I do? Should I reach out to her to clear the air?

Dear Rowena,
May be the way you told her upset her or perhaps you took her unawares. Whatever the reason, there was no need for her to take offence. If she has lost weight, it will do wonders for her health and appearance. She has changed her dressing style as she can now carry off the clothes which she could not wear earlier. If you want to clear the air, you can send her a SMS saying that you are sorry if she felt hurt. Also, compliment her for her new look. Better still, strike a conversation with her. You have not been in touch with her and then, one day, all of a sudden you go up to her and tell her how she has changed. If she does not acknowledge, let her be. She does not want you to be her pal, so you are better off without her friendship.
