Dear Diana,
I am 21 years old and studying engineering. At a friend's birthday bash, I met this girl. She is also 21 and pursuing law. I liked her at first sight. We exchanged numbers and have stayed in touch. But I want to be more than just a friend. How do I tell her I love her? Or will she just understand my feelings for her from the way I talk to her? I want to be with her all the time. I get jealous when I see her talking to anyone else. I really can't stop thinking about her. I want her to know that she is the girl for me. How do I go about it? Also, it is always me who calls her. She prefers not to reply to my text messages. When I ask her about not responding, she says she is busy with studies.

Dear Romit,
You barely know her, but have fallen head over heels in love with her. From what you have said, it appears that the girl does not appear interested — at least not at this stage. Or perhaps she is not interested in you. Or it could be that she is unsure and playing hard to get. In either case, you need to get to know her first. At the same time, do not let this affect your studies. Right now, it is your college stuff that matters, romance can wait. If you are close to the common pal at whose birthday party you met her, tell him about your feelings for her. If the common pal knows her well, he will help you in telling you about her front. What if she already has a guy on her scene? What if she is not at all interested in you? He can gauge her reactions and tell you. Meanwhile, you can suggest meeting her at a coffee shop. When you meet her and talk to her, you can ascertain if she has feelings for you. But you will need to go slow in such matters or you might appear to be desperate for her.
