Piping hot kebabs grilled on barbeque sticks, the aroma of biryani, and the bustling hum of makeshift food counters – this used to be a typical scene at South Mumbai’s famed foodie paradise Mohammed Ali Road during the holy month of Ramzan. However, things are different this year.

As India fights a hard battle with the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic, the Maharashtra government has implemented strict lockdown-like measures since last month. Restaurants and food joints are only allowed to deliver. Hence, the usually vibrant South Mumbai neighbourhood will be missing the outdoor festivities during Eid this year.
But don’t let that dampen your festive spirit. Mumbaikars can still celebrate Eid by ordering food and enjoying it from the comfort of home. Mid-Day.com lists some of places you can order scrumptious dishes from this Eid.

As the state struggles to cope with the second wave of the pandemic, there are those in Mumbai who are doing everything possible to help others. It is important that while we celebrate this festival, these organisations are also recognised.
One such initiative is the Dawoodi Bohra global philanthropic initiative, Project Rise. To celebrate Eid, they are packing and distributing Eid ration kits to families of camerapersons who have been one of the hardest hit due to the spread of the second wave of coronavirus in Mumbai. The kit includes 10 kg rice, 3 kg sugar, 3 litre oil, and other essential grocery items that will help these families.
