Whether we realise it or not, a little bit of Shakespeare seeps into our language almost every time we use a lyrical expression or a metaphor. Only if the Bard's words were unshackled from the dreaded complexity they have come to be associated with, there would be so much more poetry around. And what better way to do that than to start young?

A creative writing workshop organised by the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya (CSMVS) in association with The Writer's Bug aims to do just that. The workshop, Whose Line Is anyway?, is suitable for children between 10 and 14 years, and will be conducted by well-known educationist Rati Dady Wadia. The three-hour session will take the participants through the playwright's rich language and poetry, while revisiting some memorable expressions coined by him. That ubiquitous opening sentence of all knock-knock jokes? We have Macbeth to thank for it.

The workshop is part of the museum's initiative of familiarising Mumbaikars to the Bard, whose First Folio (the oldest manuscripts of Shakespeare's work, previously owned by King George III) is on display.
