A two-day workshop aims to help people tap into their emotions, and make changes in life to achieve their maximum potential

In our daily lives, we encounter several emotions — that make us feel better, or worse; while we can express a few, we are able to discard the others. Irrespective of how we react, these emotions constantly change our personality and attitude towards life.

Sneha Shah, consulting psychologist, and a certified instructor in Learning Theatre refers to this phenomenon as the inner drama, which is similar to what happens on stage, but here, emotions often remain hidden.
“Our emotions and feelings are much like actors on stage, each trying to express a part of who we are and what we want to achieve in life. But often, we stop ourselves from expressing them with others and ourselves. Over time, we lose touch with them. But they never go away. They pile up in our mind; affecting our daily decisions,” says Shah, who is also the founder and director of Isra Centre for Training and Development.
Keeping this inner conundrum in mind, Shah has organised a two-day workshop where she will be teaching people how to explore and understand this inner drama, using techniques of theatre and psychodrama.
The workshop, she informs is always carried out in a group and it works at two levels — mind as well as the body. The first step is to reach out (as guided by the facilitator) to the emotions, which may be holding one back, and the second step is to reflect and share it with others and find a way of changing them. “And, here the group’s energy plays a very important role in this form of therapy, as each take turns to express, listen and share their perspective on the challenges faced by others,” explains Shah.
So, where does the role of a facilitator come to play? “A facilitator helps them stay in the path of understanding the inner drama and not get carried way by it,” she explains, adding, “The main goal of the workshop is about being able to explore oneself and therefore transform oneself to achieve one’s potential.”
