The plays are based on short stories by Chekhov such as The Good Doctor, Seduction, Surgery, Arrangement and Sneeze.
To make the plays appeal to local audiences, director Abhijeet Choudhary has Indianised the content. The plays will give a feel of diversified Indian culture.
Dhanashree Heblikar, creative director of the plays, says, “Seven short plays will be staged. There is a touch of comedy in the plays and a deep emotional touch to the stories.”
Heblikar adds that the play Seduction, is about a young, smart, intelligent and handsome man who tries to seduce the beautiful wife of a straightforward husband.
Another story that will be staged is Drowned Boy, about a street smart boy staying in a basti who earns his livelihood by showing a game in water. The story Arrangement makes you ponder upon questions related to sex education.
