Siddharth Mahadevan is singing a new tune. Shankar Mahadevan's son has joined hands with F&B industrywallahs, Yug Phatak, Yug Tuli and Pritina Shrestha to open Mojo's Bistro in Kamala Mills.

The trio's entrepreneurial foray boasts of what they claim will be the largest outdoor terrace and rooftop lounge/restobar in the already buzzing neighbourhood. Currently, the father-son team is touring the US, yet junior Mahadevan squeezes in time to talk about his venture in the unpredictable waters of Mumbai's F&B industry. "I've always believed that good food and great music go together. Moreover, my family consists of first-grade foodies. It's why I got interested in the restaurant industry," he reasons.

Siddharth's entry into uncharted terrain had his family's support. "Music may be my bread, butter and soul, but I've always believed in broadening my horizons. My parents, particularly dad, encourage this. When I told him about my aspiration to be a restaurateur, he was excited. He offered valuable insight that will go a long way in shaping Mojo's personality."

Siddharth's time in the music industry also helped. "There are creative and aesthetic aspects that I can apply across work and business." For research, he picked the brains of experts from the hospitality industry. Besides, his partners are close friends who come armed with experience.

They have roped in head chef Vishal Chandani to create global fusion fare. And what's the clincher? "Live acts. We were keen to have music in Mojo's DNA. Music, food and entertainment gel together, and we wanted to offer it to our patrons. The idea is to give exposure to established and emerging talent. Plus, Mojo's is pet-friendly!"
