An Egyptian artwork created using coffee
Keen to learn a new form of painting this weekend? Participate in the Coffee Essence workshop where you can learn how to make artworks using coffee! Patnaik says, “Coffee adds a lot of depth and a unique charm to a painting as it is a monochrome. In this type of painting, any brand of coffee powder can be mixed with water in a palette and applied to the canvas using a paintbrush. The many tones are achieved by adding water to coffee. For a lighter tone, you add more water to coffee. For a darker tone, add more coffee to water.”

Who can try it?
According to Patnaik, coffee painting can be attempted on any white canvas including paper and cartridge sheets. “Everything from figurines and landscapes to abstracts and contemporary art can be created using coffee. I personally like to work on Egyptian art with coffee,” she adds. At the workshop, participants will be provided with all the materials and they will create two paintings. “Participants will be working on cartridge sheets and paint a landscape that will be
a common composition for all participants. They will also work on a graphic/contemporary piece which will be their original artwork with coffee,” Patnaik sums up.
