Banyan Tree is back with the 7th edition of their annual festival, Khusrau-Kabir, in Mumbai.

The festival that pays tribute to two saint poets, Hazrat Amir Khusrau and Saint Kabir, and remembers their unmatched contribution to world of Indian Performing Arts will feature performances by Suchismita Das, Smita Bellur, Arya Ambekar, Madan Gopal Singh & Chaar Yaar and Chand Nizami of the Nizami Bandhu Qawwali group.

“The three girls who are from Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore respectively will present contemporary versions of songs by Khusrau and Kabir. Madan Gopal ji has composed a few new tunes which he will present.

The Qawwals from Delhi will present traditional songs by Amir Khusrau. They usually perform at the Nizamuddin Dargah in Delhi. The audience will be treated to different voice textures and sounds in the three-hour concert,” shares Mahesh Babu, founder Banyan Tree. “From next year on, we plan to make it a pan-India festival,” he adds.
