Set to feature in Bejoy Nambiar’s Kaala, Rohan Vinod Mehra on not being a product of nepotism

What’s in a surname?

In an industry that is often abuzz with discussions about nepotism, late actor Vinod Mehra’s son Rohan claims that he has not exactly benefitted from his lineage. The actor, who made his Bollywood debut with Baazaar—also starring Saif Ali Khan and Radhika Apte—believes that while the conversation around nepotism is valid, his focus has always been on honing his craft and seizing opportunities based on merit.

Rohan, who was later seen in Four More Shots Please, followed by a project titled 420 IPC, says he believes in “shaping his own destiny”. “I have always believed in the power of hard work and the significance of one’s individual efforts.” His efforts have now landed him a pivotal role in Bejoy Nambiar’s dark, gritty action thriller, Kaala. Rohan insists that his journey in showbiz is rather different from that of people who come from a similar background. “Despite my [first] film, things didn’t change for me. I auditioned for every project that came my way. I spent time seeking work for myself that would challenge me. I have channelled my energy into refining my acting skills and pursuing roles that truly inspire me.”
