Sanjay Leela Bhansali's ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’ has been unanimously praised by audiences across the globe. While the show has been setting examples of its success, there has been an ongoing conversation about the buzz girl of the show Sharmin Segal all over the internet. Although the actress who portrayed Alamzeb, has been in the news since the show premiered, some interview clippings have come out of context and have led to destructive criticism. Amidst all this conversation, Richa Chadha has come in support of her co-star Sharmin Segal.

Richa Chadha took to her social media to raise her voice against all the destructive criticism that people are spreading. She wrote: “I know it's tempting to jump on a trend but to make another human being clickbait? I think we can all do better than that, be better than that. Be kind. Please. It can affect someone's mental health. A big election just happened, there's a heat wave on, there's so much going on in the world! Please move on?"

Recently in an interview, Sharmin spoke about the importance of focusing on the positive reactions she has been receiving. She said, “I’ve chosen this profession to cater to an audience, so I was prepared for reactions and responses and there has been so much love also. Sometimes looking at the negativity, we tend to completely omit the positivity.”

Sharmin asserted that she had received love from a section of the audience. “I don’t think it later affected me as much because you’ve to sift through it because there are people who are saying positive things also. And I can’t negate that only because those people have taken their time out to write good things about me. And, I can’t suddenly fixate on somebody that has taken their time out to write negative things about me.”

Streaming giant Netflix has renewed the series for a second season. "In 'Heeramandi 2,' the women now come from Lahore to the film world. They leave Lahore after the partition and most of them settle in the Mumbai film industry or Kolkata film industry. So that journey in the bazaar remains the same. They still have to dance and sing, but this time for the producers and not for the nawabs. So that's the second season we are planning, let's see where it goes," Bhansali said.
