Set to essay a prominent role in ALTBalaji and ZEE5’s latest show, The Married Woman, a series with an aspirational narrative revolving around women and their choices, Monica Dogra says the role is among the kind she had been in search of, since a while.

“When I was approached for this one, I was incredibly excited. I was looking for this kind of work because I always wanted to explore something that is different from the [roles I] usually play,” says the actor, who features alongside Ridhi Dogra in the venture.

An urban relationship drama about women and how they have been conditioned by society, the show sees its protagonists in search of themselves. “We wanted to treat this sensitively.  We were always aware of the obstacles that could be present when we set out to tell a story on members of the LGBTQIA+ community, who often feel that they are not accurately represented. There are billions of people on this planet and it isn’t fair to compare [two people]. I tried to be as honest as I can and understand [my character’s choices] from a personal space. We are all different, yet we are all the same.”
