Yet Rivers’ life rights, which are held by daughter, Melissa, hadn’t been secured
Joan Rivers and Kathryn Hahn
A month after American actor Kathryn Hahn was tapped to play late comedian Joan Rivers in a new limited series, the project was tabled.

Reports suggest that the project has been tabled because of the issues around the life rights of Rivers. Hahn was attached as its star and executive producer, and Greg Berlanti was to direct the series, which was based on a script by Cosmo Carlson. Yet Rivers’ life rights, which are held by daughter, Melissa, hadn’t been secured. The project could have proceeded as an unauthorised venture, but The Comeback Girl wouldn’t have been able to use any of Rivers’ jokes or catchphrases, and, of course, risked running afoul of Melissa.
