As the much-loved Little Things comes to an end with its fourth edition, creator-actor Dhruv on how the leads have evolved over the years
A still from the series
An actor shares an intimate relationship with his character. For Dhruv Sehgal, the intimacy is probably all the more pronounced in Little Things, which sees him on double duty as the creator-actor. As the fourth and final season of the much-loved Netflix series drops today, Sehgal says that his character Dhruv Vats has evolved with the show.

“He is far more at peace with things. The way I see Dhruv’s character arc from season one to four is that he has accepted himself, but he strives to be better,” he states.
It’s easy to see why the series has gained a loyal audience. The first two editions were delightful as they showcased the everyday struggles of a live-in relationship through Dhruv and Kavya, essayed by Mithila Palkar. The third instalment took a more mature turn with the leads tackling a long-distance relationship. Does he feel an added pressure with the grand finale? “The only pressure is to do better than the previous season. We have tried to approach the characters with the same honesty that we did over the last three instalments.”
Juggling the duty of a writer and actor can be exhausting. But Sehgal says that as an actor, he enjoys the process of becoming one with his on-screen persona. “What I love the most about playing Dhruv is that sometimes I forget I’m acting. Of course, true acting revolves around the fact that you need to forget everything and be present. Sometimes, I have these moments where I [am so absorbed in the role] that I don’t know the lines coming out of my mouth.”
