Sources say Vidyut is not a part of next edition of Commando, which is being designed as web series

Commando calls time on his duty?

Vidyut Jammwal

Since the start of his career, Vidyut Jammwal has been synonymous with Commando, an action franchise that has spawned three instalments since its inception in 2013. Rumours, however, suggest that the actor is not a part of the latest Commando offering, which went on floors last Thursday in Mumbai.

A little digging revealed that the project is apparently being designed as an OTT offering. A source says, “The idea is to create a web series that will run parallel to the existing Commando films. So, the makers will bring in other heroes besides the current protagonist Karanveer Singh Dogra, essayed by Vidyut. They intend to build a Commando universe of sorts, along the lines of how filmmaker Rohit Shetty built a cop universe with his movies. The team is in talks with action heroes to play the lead in the series. Simultaneously, they kicked off the shoot last week, filming some crowd scenes.” It is heard that the shoot with the leads will begin next week.
