Bhuvan Bam's Taaza Khabar: The laughs keep coming

Earlier this week, Ormax—a research agency that specialises in media consulting—released its biannual report of the top OTT shows and films of the year so far. While Shahid Kapoor’s Farzi has topped the list of the most-viewed Hindi series with 37.1 million, The Night Manager came second. Bhuvan Bam’s debut web series, Taaza Khabar, has occupied the third spot at reportedly 23.5 million views. Overjoyed that the comedy-drama has received such a strong response, Bam believes it has resonated with viewers because it tells the story of the common man.

“When we embarked on this project, we wanted to tell a tale of a common man with not-so-common dreams. The story of an underdog discovering unexpected powers struck a chord with audiences. Hearing that Taaza Khabar has garnered 23.5 million views is encouraging. It reaffirms our belief in the power of storytelling,” says the YouTube star-turned-actor.

Led by director Himank Gaur and writers Hussain and Abbas Dalal, the team has begun working on the next season of the Disney+ Hotstar offering. Bam adds, “This achievement is a motivation for us to make the next season bigger and better. Hussain and Abbas are working hard on the script.”
