Tell us about the web series you are currently filming?
We are shooting in old Delhi, the show is based in the interiors of Delhi. We are shooting in real locations and not a single set. While I can't speak about the character or show yet, it’s definitely something I’m excited to announce when the time is right.
How does it feel returning to acting after a long stint as host?
I did a show that I never knew would become so popular and I was with it for a very long time. As an actor I needed some change. I’m an actor first, that is my priority. I took a call to return to acting and this is the best phase to get on OTT. Whether it’s a web series or a movie, it’s an opportunity to meet new people and work with different directors and stories and to grow as a person and an actor.
Any web series that you have been catching up on?
As an actor I’m attracted to play characters that are emotion driven, with a lot of intricacies and complications in relationships. In other words I like drama. I watched an American series, This is us. By the time I found out about the show, the third or fourth season was already out. So I watched all the episodes together. I enjoy thrillers too.
Where do we see you next?
I’m concluding the shoot of my current series and there’s another one I already shot for. These two shows have me in very different characters. I was happy that directors are not judging actors by their past work, but by calibre of the actor. Both my web series are poles apart and I can't guarantee my audience will be surprised.
Your film Satyameva Jayate 2 has just released. What are the reactions you have been getting?
When your director is clear about what he’s making, he’s making it for the seeti maar audience, jo gaane and dialogues sunne aayenge, you just go with the flow. When I first did my scene, Milap came and told me in my ears, "Just do 200 percent of what you did now." Then I realised this film has a different sur, but he was very clear how he has written the film and the dialogues, it will only be fun if you perform it in that way. It was fun working with Milap.
