After two years, Rabb Se Hai Dua is taking a 22-year generation leap with a whole new cast and storyline. The show will now focus on the journey of Dua’s daughters—half-sisters Ibaadat and Mannat. It’s a gamble to enter a show mid-way, but Yesha Rughani believes it’s “a blessing and a responsibility”. “I think it is a blessing because people have worked hard to bring the show to this level. But it is also a responsibility to take it ahead in a good way and do justice to what has already been portrayed,” says the actor playing the character of Ibaadat.

Set to go on floors on February 21, Rughani has been busy with workshops to learn the Urdu dialect and work on her dialogue delivery. “I remember doing workshops for my first show because, back then, I didn’t even know camera angles. Although there is little time, we are learning pronunciations of Urdu words, working on our characters, and the chemistry with other actors. It’s a fun exercise and gets me excited,” says the actor, adding that she took up the role because, unlike her previous characters, this one is at odds with her real-life persona. “It is a different role from my previous shows, where I am usually full of life. I could relate to my character [to a great extent] because I would mostly be playing myself, but in Rabb Se Hai Dua the character is tad different.”
While most actors are deviating toward digital entertainment, Rughani claims that she gravitates towards television because she enjoys the small screen more. “I love television. Even though the shows I watched were very different from what is on air nowadays, I have been watching it since childhood,” she says.
