Avika Gor tells mid-day.com that she is excited to put out her DIY décor this Diwali and though she isn’t meeting too many people, she can't wait to play housie online with family.

What are your Diwali plans this year?
This time we aren’t visiting relatives but there will be a lot of phone and zoom calls. I’m looking forward to rangoli because I’ve got a lot of new ideas from Instagram that I want to try.

What have you shopped for?
I remember buying a lot of lights and different types of diyas in the past but for the last few years I do DIY stuff and I enjoy it. I like the process because I can proudly say I made this.

What are the Diwali traditions at your home?
Cleaning the house, decorating the house, making a rangoli, dressing up, doing pooja and visiting relatives.

What are the sweets you love gorging on during Diwali?
I love Kaju Katli and Motichoor laddoo. I also love the different kinds of chocolates people make. Basically I love all sweets and cannot stop myself from eating, so I put on a lot of weight, but I will work hard to lose it after Diwali.

Any favourite Diwali song or scene from a movie?
‘Mere Tumhare Sab Ke Liye Happy Diwali’ from Home Delivery. I had performed on the song as a child, so it’s memorable. I don’t like any Diwali scenes from movies because there are crackers which I don’t like. The Shah Rukh Khan Diwali ad is very cool.

What's your favourite part of the festival?
‘Saal Mubarak’ even though we are not going to meet a lot of people this year as well. There will be a lot of family calls where we will play housie and reconnect.
