Arvind Trivedi, who played the role of Ravan in the '90s show Ramayan passed away due to cardiac arrest at the age of 82. Reportedly, the last rites ceremony will take place on Wednesday morning, October 6, in Mumbai. The cast members of Ramayan have become pan-India celebrities over the decades. Arun Govil as Ram, Deepika Chikhlia as Sita, Sunil Lahri as Laxman, who shared screen space with Arvind Trivedi, offered condolences on social media.

Arvind's co-star Sunil Lahiri shared the heartbreaking news along with a picture of the late actor and wrote on Instagram early Wednesday, "Bahut dukhad Samachar hai ki Hamare Sabke Pyare Arvind bhai (Ravan of Ramayan) Ab Hamare bich Nahin Rahe Bhagwan Unki Atma ko Shanti De (This is very sad news. Our dear Arvind Bhai is no longer with us. May God bring peace to his soul)." [sic]

Not just Ramayan, Arvind Trivedi also made a mark with his role in Vikram Aur Betaal. The late Ramanand Sagar's blockbuster mythological show Ramayan returned to the television during the pandemic outbreak last year. The series had gained immense popularity upon release on Doordarshan in 1987, and the channel re-telecast the show during the lockdown. Upon being aired again in 2020, the show once again broke several records of viewership.

The late star had a prolific career spanning more than three decades in the Gujarati cinema. 'Desh Re Joya Dada Pardesh Joya' remains one of his most popular Gujarati films of all time.
