High on emotion, Kehne Ko Humsafar Hai has a relatable story, where life is not only about kitchen politics, or hacking an over-imaginative plan to kill someone or weeping all the time (strike that)

In an interview, Ronit Roy said, "There are only seven emotions that one can play with. While the story (Kehne Ko Humsafar Hai) is common, it's the treatment and presentation that differs." And we couldn't agree more. The basic story remains the same — pati, patni aur woh. The series showcases the dilemma between love and duty. Roy aka Rohit Mehra has been in a relationship with interior designer Ananya Sharma (played by Mona Singh) for three years. He promises to divorce his wife, Poonam (Gurdeep Kohli), to be with her, but when the time comes to put his words into action, he chickens out. The situation gets out of hand when the children learn about their father's extramarital affair.

As a viewer, it may just become difficult to pick sides in this one. High on emotion, Kehne Ko Humsafar Hai has a relatable story, where life is not only about kitchen politics, or hacking an over-imaginative plan to kill someone or weeping all the time (strike that). When Sharma friends' advise her against romancing a married man, it immediately strikes a chord, because in most friend circles, one can imagine a similar conversation. Singh, who played the wife in a similar show, Kyaa Hua Tera Vaada, now plays the other woman. We don't doubt her acting skills, but every role cannot be bubbly. For the longest time, Singh seems to have a similar character sketch in all her shows. Roy impresses as a man caught in the thrusts of a choice he doesn't wish to make. As a viewer, you might sympathise with him. Kohli shifts between anger and helplessness with ease as she plays
a wife without options.

Kapil Sharma's direction keeps the tone urban and reflects high production value. While every actor gives a powerful performance, the show doesn't strike as something novel or out of the box. Why bother to make a web debut, if the plan was to showcase another daily soap? Making the characters relatable or making them play bold characters doesn't seem like the apt reason to pick web over TV.
