Bollywood diva Madhuri Dixit says both her recent films 'Dedh Ishqiya' and 'Gulab Gang' may not have been money-spinners at the box-office but her job is to give her best and not compete with newcomers.

Madhuri, 47, made a come back in Bollywood with Vishal Bharadwaj's home production 'Dedh Ishqiya' alongside Naseeruddin Shah and Arshad Warsi and followed it up with Shoumik Sen's 'Gulab Gang' with actress Juhi Chawla. 'Dedh Ishqiya', a sequel to 'Ishqiya', released in January this year and got an average response. 'Gulaab Gang' centered on struggle of women in the country.

"In these two films, both the characters were completely opposite of each other. Whatever I do, I do it with passion, give my best. Finally it is fate or whatever you call it how it (film) does. I think both the films did fairly well.. I don't think they were big disappointments," Madhuri told PTI in an interview. Madhuri sets the record straight that she is not in the industry to compete with anyone and her only focus is to do good work. "I don't have anything to prove to anyone at this point. I want to do good roles and be happy about it. I am not here to compete with newcomers.

I am here to do my job and do it with the best of my ability," Madhuri said. But post these two films, it seems there is nothing happening on acting front for Madhuri. When asked whats happening on movie front, she says, she's busy with dance reality show 'Jhalak Dikhla Jaa' which she is judging on small screen.

The actress has been around in the film industry since quite some time but she feels things have changed. "Appearance today is important, audience is unforgiving but that doesn't mean acting is not important. Those who have both the qualities do very well," Madhuri said.

The newer crop of actors call themselves huge fans of Madhuri and have expressed their desire to romance her on screen. To which she says, "I feel flattered. I take such things as a compliment. It is great to know that you are looked upon as idol and people like your work."

Ask her if she would be comfortable romancing young actors if offers come up, she says, "I don't know. It depends on what the script is I can't say I am ok or not ok." At a time when lots of actors are getting into production Madhuri isn't thinking about it.

"I don't know these thoughts are far from my mind. I am busy with 'Jhalak Dikhla Jaa' as we are starting it now.. I am excited about it," she added. Madhuri will be seen judging the seventh season of 'Jhalak Dikhla Jaa' alongwith filmmaker Karan Johar and choreographer-director Remo D'Souza. The show will go on air from June 7 on Colors channel.
