Think Apurva Agnihotri and the first thing that strikes you is Armaan sir from Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin. Despite making a mark with the show, the actor couldn't cash in on the success, instead following it up with stints on reality shows and several cameo on serials. As he makes his web debut with an ALTBalaji show, he talks about reuniting with Mona Singh and why he won't do another reality show. Edited excerpts from the interview:

Tell us about your role in Kehne Ko Humsafar Hai.
I'm making a cameo appearance opposite Mona Singh. Her character is going through a low and I enter her life as a breath of fresh air. I have another show after this lined, but I can't talk about it as I haven't signed on the dotted line.

How was it to share screen space with Mona Singh again after so many years?
It was like old times. It brought back so many beautiful memories. I hope there's a second season to the show. If that happens, I'll get more screen time with her. We've already shot for it.

You are also making a comeback on Meri Durga.
I will start shooting for the show soon. The whole team of Meri Durga has been a delight to work with. My character is a cross between Chak De India's Shah Rukh Khan and Dangal's coach. It will be interesting to see how he changes in this half of the show. I took it up because it is only a two to three-month-long stint.

Is it a conscious decision to stick to cameos?
Yes, I'd rather do something substantial than a long-running one. I wanted to wait for the right kind of role, and I believe my patience has paid off. Things are finally looking up for both of us. This year, Shilpa [Sakhlani, wife] and I won't be out of sight as much.

Actors are the most insecure beings. Do you fear that the junta may forget you?
Not really. Shilpa and I are not very ambitious. We love to spend time with each other. Now that we've set up a restaurant in New Zealand with her brother, we make a trip there every year to check up on things. I like my life away from the limelight. I am not insecure. Maybe that's why we are so laidback.

Why haven't Shilpa and you come together for a fiction show?
We got several offers after the many reality shows we did, but none of them appealed to us. If both of us have to agree, it must suit our sensibilities.

What about another reality show?
I am done with reality shows. The only thing left to attempt is Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, but we both are such awful dancers. Jhalak is out of the question (laughs).
