Prabhas in the film

The idea of retelling the Ramayana had germinated in director Om Raut’s mind in the early 2000s when he watched Japanese filmmaker Yugo Sako’s anime film, The Prince of Light, based on the Indian epic. Years on, ready with Adipurush, the filmmaker launched the highly anticipated teaser over the weekend. The first look of the Prabhas, Saif Ali Khan and Kriti Sanon-starrer received mixed to negative reviews, with netizens trolling the visual effects. While Raut has reportedly stated that he is “not surprised” by the negative reactions as the film is “not made for the small screens” of mobile phones, it is now heard that the director and T-Series have decided to employ a new team of VFX experts to rework the footage.

An insider tells us, “Om had always envisioned the movie as a cross between folklore and technology. While the story is Amar Chitra Katha in its tonality, the makers don’t want a highly animated look anymore. Between mid-October and November, a new trailer will be worked upon and launched for the audience. A 10-member VFX team is being created to rework a large part of the film’s footage. The final edit will be locked after multiple focus group screenings in October, paving the way for promotions in December.”
