Rajinikanth is setting the box office on fire with his recently released Tamil film, Jailer. It released on August 10 in theaters globally. While fans are going gaga over the film, the Tamil superstar hosted a special screening of Jailer for Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath in Lucknow.

On Saturday, Rajinikanth met Yogi Adityanath at the BJP leader’s residence. In a viral video, the 72-year-old Thalaiva was seen greeting the 51-year-old politician with a namaste. The superstar also bowed down and touched the feet of the UP CM. This gesture left the internet divided. While some weren't pleased with the fact that Rajinikanth touched the feet of Adityanath who is younger in age and experience, a section of people defended the superstar by saying he sought blessings because the politician is also the Mahant of Gorakhnath Math.

In a statement to ANI before his visit to Lucknow, Rajinikanth said, "I will watch the film with the CM. It's God's blessing that the movie is becoming a hit." A special screening was held in Lucknow on Saturday which was attended by Adityanath's deputy Keshav Prasad Maurya. He said in a statement to PTI, "I also got a chance to watch the movie ‘Jailer’. I had watched Rajinikanth’s many films and he is such a talented actor that even though there is not much content in the movie still he with his performance, he increases the importance of the film."

After the release of Jailer, Rajinikanth went on a spiritual tour to the Himalayas. He offered prayers at the Badrinath temple. Thalaiva was in Ranchi after visiting the Rajrappa Temple in Ramgarh. Before heading to Uttar Pradesh, Rajinikanth visited the famous Chhinnamasta Temple in Jharkhand. The superstar also attended a meeting with Jharkhand Governor C P Radhakrishnan at the Raj Bhavan.

According to reports, Jailer has crossed Rs. 500 crores worldwide. Reportedly, it has become the third Tamil film to enter the 500-crore club after 2.0 (2018) and Ponniyin Selvan: I (2022).

Jailer, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, also stars Priyanka Mohan, Tamannaah Bhatia, Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Vasanth Ravi and Vinayakan in pivotal roles.
