After winning accolades from all across the globe, Ram Kamal Mukherjee's film Rickshawala released on BiigBang this month. The movie garnered favourable reviews from Indian press and media. Winner of 16 International Awards, including Best Human Rights Film at Cardiff International Film Festival and Best Shorts USA, the film created a record with 9.1 rating on IMDb. "I am thankful to all my audiences and members of the press that they showered so much love to our film Rickshawala. And frankly speaking this wouldn't have been possible without my producers Aritra Das, Sarbani Mukherjee, Shhailendra Kumar and Gaurav Daga. It's not easy to make a film when you don't have a studio backing you or a star name behind. You need strong producers who share the same dream and passion," explains director Ram Kamal Mukherjee. Rickshawala stars Avinash Dwivedi in the lead and the film pays tribute to legendary actor Om Puri.

Being a regional film, it is getting phenomenal response from national media and Avinash seems to be the surprise package. "I believe that we are Indian filmmakers, and language should not restrict us from appreciating good content. If Tamil Telugu Malayalam movies can have worldwide reach, then Bengali films should also be considered under the same parameters," he argued.

The film is streaming on newly launched app BiigBang Amusement, that exclusively caters to short length content. After Rickshawala, he is gearing up for the release of Broken Frame and Shubho Bijoya on the same platform. Produced under the banner of Assorted Motion Pictures, Broken Frame has been officially selected at Imagineindia Madrid and Indian Film Festival at Cincinnati. Rohit Bose Roy and Ritabhari Chakraborty starrer films are already making waves amongst international jury members. "This film is based on my short stories collection, and I wanted to tell this particular story through cinema. The story deals with a couple who decides to part ways on their anniversary night," says Ram Kamal. Working with Rohit and Ritabhari gave him confidence as a director who can handle mature subjects.

His third film Shubho Bijoya brings back celebrated Bollywood couple Gurmeet Chowdhury and Debina Bonnerjee after 11 years. "This was a casting coupe. They have not been working with each consciously because they didn't get any role that would do justice. But when I narrated the story, both Gurmeet and Debina immediately okayed the film," says Ram Kamal. The film has been extensively shot in Mumbai and Maldives. It's a romantic film, paying subtle tribute to master of short stories O Henry.

Definitely as a maker he is excited to have three movies releasing in a month, but that must have created enormous pressure on him. "Of course, it's a nightmare for me to move from one film to another so quickly. Often the publicity gets overlapped. There are logistics issues. But at the same time I am happy that during this tough time when people are struggling to find release platforms or theatres, I am lucky enough to showcase my films," he informs.

Ram Kamal is also waiting for the release of his next biography Dada of Bollywood: Mithun Chakraborty in August. "The work is going on full swing, I am sure everyone will love the dramatic journey of Mithunda penned elaborately in the book. The book has already been appreciated by reviewers and will be launched on 10th August. We wanted Mithunda to physically launch the book, but since we are not allowed to host any physical events in Mumbai we opted for an online release," he explained.
