Vasu has finished working on the script of Chandramukhi II and is all set to shoot the sequel to the Kannada version of the film, Apthamitra, with Vishnuvardhan.u00a0
Apthamithra, which starred Vishnuvardhan, Ramesh Aravind, Soundarya, Prema and Dwarakesh, ran for over 500 days and was declared a super hit. Chandramukhi too broke all box office records when it was released. It ran for 870 days.u00a0
Keen to build on the film's success, Vasu began work on the sequel to Chandramukhi and approached Rajinikanth. The super star kept him waiting as he was busy with Enthiran.u00a0u00a0

"Encouraged by the phenomenal success of Chandramukhi, I started work on the sequel.u00a0 The scripting is done.
I am planning to launch the sequel in Kannada in February. Vishnuvardhan will play the lead," he announced at a press conference in Chennai.u00a0
What about the hero in the sequel to Chandramukhi? "A lot of people have been asking me about that but it's not in my hands. Super star Rajinikanth has to give his nod. That's why I have started work on the sequel to Apthamitra," Vasu said.

The director said he was finalising the star cast.u00a0 He is sure to miss Soundarya, who won an award for her role as the schizophrenic young wife. The talented actress died in a copter crash in April 2004 while campaigning for BJP.u00a0 Who will replace Soundarya in the sequel? "It depends on the screenplay," said Ramesh Aravind, who played her screen husband in Apthamitra.
"Apthamitra is a brand in itself. I have heard that Vasu is planning a sequel but I have not been approached. I would love to be part of the film. However, it's not necessary that the same actors have to be repeated in the sequel," he added.u00a0
