New Delhi: Tamil superstar Rajinikanth's daughter, Soundarya feels that her movie 'Kochadaiiyaan', which is India's first motion capture photo-realistic 3D animated movie, is an attempt to "immortalise her father".

"3D animated technology is new to India but it is not new to Hollywood. I wanted to immortalise my father through this film," she said, after receiving the Indian of the Year Award for Technical Innovation in the film.


Soundarya, 29, who received the award from Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor in the presence of her mother, Latha Rajinikanth, narrated how when she discussed the idea about the film to her superstar father, he quickly said "Go ahead".


During the award function, Rajinikanth's pre-recorded message congratulating his daughter was also shown on screen.

"You have made me and the entire country proud," the superstar said, referring to the Rs 1.25 billion project.

Soundarya said the film is not a cartoon film. "It is not a cartoon film. It is photo realistic performance where my father has really acted," the director said. She said that the film has also animated renowned Tamil actor Nagesh, who died in 2009.

"We found someone who looks like him, acts like him," Soundarya said, pointing out that such a thing would not have been able in a live action movies. Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone is co-starring with Rajinikanth in 'Kochadaiiyaan'.
