YG Entertainment, the company that represented G-Dragon since his debut alongside BIGBANG in 2006 issued an official statement on the matter. He continued his association with the label until his exclusive contract ended in June 2023. As per Xports News, their official statement read, “It is difficult to respond officially as he is not currently an artist under our company.”
While there are reports claiming that G-Dragon's name surfaced after the arrest of 'Coffee Prince' actor, Lee Sun Kyun in a similar case, the police has clarified that both cases are in no manner connected. It appears that the investigation into Lee Sun Kyun’s situation led the police to dig deeper, eventually unearthing substantial evidence connecting G-Dragon to the drug-related allegations. However, as the matter is still being investigated, the police refrained from sharing specific details to the public.
As per reports, the police is investigating eight people in the drug abuse case involving actor Lee Sun Kyun. Earlier, Seon Gyun Lee was booked on the charges of marijuana and psychotropic drugs under the Narcotics Control Act. Later, the police also arrested the manager of the Gangnam entertainment establishment, where Lee Sun Kyun was reportedly known to have frequently visited. Named as Mr B, the manager is accused of extorting 350 million wons from Lee Sun Kyun by allegedly threatening the 'Parasite' actor. Besides these arrests, another employee of the entertainment establishment was booked alongside five other people, which reportedly includes a composer, an aspiring singer and a member of a third-generation chaebol family.
G-Dragon is often referred to as the 'King of K-pop' and is a recipient of several awards. He has seven Mnet Asian Music Awards, six Melon Music Awards, two Korean Music Awards, two Golden Disc Awards, and two MBC Entertainment Awards, among several others to his credit. He also holds the title of being the first and only solo artist to be honored with the Mnet Asian Music Award for Artist of the Year in 2013.
