Allison Tolman, “It’s a profound and lovely film. And it’s so important for American audiences to wrap our heads around what LGBTQ issues look like in countries and cultures other than our own. #PrideMonth is a great reminder of our responsibilities as allies world wide.”
Director Faraz Ansari added after her response , “I have such mad respect and regard for Allison Tolman and her absolutely brilliant body of work — right from Fargo to Why Women Kill… I am a fan! I’m absolutely honoured to have Allison’s support for 'Sheer Qorma'. It goes such a long way to have not just visibility but also recognition by an actor as powerful as Allison. I’m very grateful for her support to our film. Here’s hoping I get to collaborate with her soon and create something beautiful together!”

Recently, the film also won the Grand Jury Narrative Short at the Gasparilla International Film Festival
Faraz added, “First wins are always very special. When I read the news that Sheer Qorma won the Grand Jury Award at Gasparilla International Film Festival, I was sitting with my mom on the dinner table having breakfast. I screamed so loudly and broke out into a dance, jumping all over. This win is also so special because for a queer film to win the biggest award at a mainstream film festival is always a very big deal. I’m very grateful that the jury chose our film and honoured it. A film like Sheer Qorma isn’t made everyday and I am grateful that they world is now getting to experience it.”
