Hollywood actor Robbie Coltrane, who made his way to the hearts of many cinegoers with his extremely endearing role of Hagrid in the Harry Potter films passed away today. He was 72 years of age. Besides Harry Potter, Coltrane had also acted in the James Bond films like ‘The World Is Not Enough’ and ‘Goldeneye’.

After having started his showbiz career in the year 1979 with the TV series ‘Play for Today’, he gradually climbed the success ladder with shows like ‘A Kick Up the Eighties’, which was aired on BBC TV. Besides this, there were many other shows which he had displayed his acting prowess. Robbie was made an OBE (Order of the British Empire) in 2006.

In her tweet, J.K. Rowling stated, “I'll never know anyone remotely like Robbie again. He was an incredible talent, a complete one off, and I was beyond fortunate to know him, work with him and laugh my head off with him. I send my love and deepest condolences to his family, above all his children”. Similar emotions were echoed by his fellow actors and film makers at the time of this story.
