Canadian singer The Weeknd took home eight trophies at the Billboard Music Awards including the top R&B artist, top R&B album for 'Beauty Behind the Madness' and top R&B song ('The Hills')

Los Angeles: Canadian singer The Weeknd took home eight trophies at the Billboard Music Awards including the top R&B artist, top R&B album for 'Beauty Behind the Madness' and top R&B song ('The Hills').

The 26-year-old two-time Grammy winner's other five honours came for-- top streaming song (Audio for 'The Hills', top streaming songs artist, top radio songs artist, Top Song Sales Artist and top hot 100 artist. Oscar-winning singer


Adele was the second big winner at the awards with four honours including the top female artist, top artist, top Billboard 200 artist, top Billboard 200 Album for '25' and top selling song ('Hello').

Pop star Justin Bieber bagged the best male artist and the top social media artist awards, while singer Taylor Swift took home the award for the top touring artist.

Rihanna was honoured with the Billboard chart achievement award. The top rap song trophy was given to 'See You Again' by Wiz Khalifa featuring Charlie Puth. The emotional track was also named the top hot 100 song.

The top soundtrack award went to 'Pitch Perfect 2'. David Guetta received the top dance/electronic artist. Luke Bryan earned the top country artist, while Drake got the top rap artist. Boy band One Direction took home the top duo/group prize. Twenty One Pilots won the top rock artist award.

'My Heart Will Go On' hitmaker Celine Dion was honoured with the icon award, while Britney Spears received the millennium award. Ludacris and Ciara hosted the show. Among the performers were Kesha, Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton and Madonna and Stevie Wonder, who performed a tribute to Prince. The show was held at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
