The photo, which included such Hollywood stars as Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper and Meryl Streep, crashed Twitter and currently has more than 3 million retweets the most ever.
And the manufacturer of the phone used to take the selfie has returned the favour by offering to donate $1 for every retweet of the photo, a total of $3 million, to charities of DeGeneres’ choice, she announced on her show on Monday. She has decided to give half to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital and half to the Humane Society of the United States.
“You can just see how relaxed and happy everybody is at the Oscars, which is the most tense, usually the most uptight [event],” DeGeneres noted on her show on Monday of the buzzed-about photo.
