Los Angeles: Jessica Chastain's political drama "Miss Sloane", about an ambitious lobbyist who risks her career on Capitol Hill to pass stricter gun-control law, is set to release on December 9.

The movie, by EuropaCorp and FilmNation, is being helmed by John Madden of "Shakespeare in Love" fame, reported the Entertainment Weekly.
"Miss Sloane" also stars Mark Strong, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Michael Stuhlbarg, Alison Pill, Jake Lacy, and Sam Waterston.
Gun violence is currently a hot button issue in America and the movie, given its timely subject, has a strong chance to become an award-season hopeful.
US Senate recently rejected bills to restrict gun sales despite pressure from public to restrict gun sales following the mass shooting in Orlando in June.
