The 68th Primetime Emmy Awards this year that will be telecast live in India on September 19th across Star English Entertainment Network’s channels.

The critically acclaimed yet Emmy-snubbed shows of the past have finally received recognition, the biggest celebrities across television and Hollywood are nominated and will be seen walking the red carpet adding to the glitz and glamour at the event and every nominated show this year is facing the toughest competition ever!

The Most Nominated Shows

Emmy awards
The People v. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story
The show has bagged 22 nominations at the 68th Primetime Emmy Awards – that’s just one short of Game of Thrones.

All the lead cast members – John Travolta, Cuba Gooding Jr., David Schwimmer, Sarah Paulson, Courtney B. Vance and Sterling K. Brown have earned individual nominations.

Even Ryan Murphy and two other directors of the show’s episodes have been nominated individually under the same ‘Directors’ category. That makes it.

According to critics, audiences and industry artists alike, The People v. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story is most likely to take away most to all awards at the Emmys this year. The show has received 4 awards at the Creative Emmys for technical excellence. These include – Outstanding Casting, Hairstyling, Picture Editing and Sound Mixing
Both John Travolta and Cuba Gooding Jr. have won Oscars and are first time Emmy nominees. Both, John Travolta and David Schwimmer made their big comeback to television with this show – John Travolta after 41 years and David Schwimmer in his first recurring role after over 10 years

Game of Thrones Season 6

Emmy awards
Game of Thrones is yet again the highest nominated series in its sixth consecutive year with 23 nominations and will be seen defending its crown against new shows at the Emmys this year.
Most of the longstanding main cast of the show have received Emmy nominations – Lena Headey, Maisie Williams, Emilia Clarke, Peter Dinklage and Kit Harington and Max von Sydow.
5 seasons and 105 nominations later, it is audience favourites, Kit Harington and Maisie William’s first nomination at the Emmys this year.
The show has created Emmy history by winning a record breaking 12 Emmy awards in a single year.
Game of Thrones has won nine Creative Emmys for technical excellence this year - Outstanding Casting, Make-up, Costumes, Production Design, Stunt Coordination, Special Visual Effects, Sound Mixing and more.
Game of Thrones since its inception has won a total of 35 Emmy awards and this year’s wins may or may not break the record of Frasier’s 37 record win that made it the show with the maximum Emmys ever!

Veep Season 5

Emmy awards
Veep starring one of the best comedians on television ever, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, has been nominated at this year’s Emmys with 17 nominations – the highest for a comedy series in one single year ever in Emmy history.
The show, in its fifth season, has been consecutively nominated for the fifth time this year for Outstanding Comedy Series. Apart from that, Julia Louis Dreyfus has too been nominated for the fifth consecutive time this year for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. The interesting thing though is that Julia has won all the four previous awards in this category. If she wins this year, she will create a winning streak of five awards each year, consecutively.
Supporting actors of the series – Anna Chlumsky and Tony Hale have both received their fifth consecutive Emmy nominations this year too

Silicon Valley Season 3

Emmy awards
Silicon Valley is just 3 seasons young and thus just 3 years old. Yet, the show has grabbed a lot of attention by being nominated all of 3 times as Outstanding Comedy Series at the Emmys.
The show has also won three consecutive nominations for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series as well as Outstanding Directing.
This year however, marks the lead actor’s debut at the Emmys as Thomas Middleditch gets nominated for the first time as Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.
Silicon Valley is one of the top-most nominated shows this year with 11 Emmy award nominations.

Fargo

Emmy awards
Fargo bagged a whopping 18 nominations putting it on the map of the most nominated shows at the Emmys this year.
Kirsten Dunst not only marked her debut in the television industry with Fargo but also earned her first Emmy and Golden Globe nomination this year for the show. She has been nominated at the Emmys for the category of Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie.

The Night Manager

Emmy awards
The Night Manager saw its debut at the 68th Primetime Emmy Awards this year and is already in the list of the top most nominated shows at the Emmys of the year.
The show that has bagged 12 nominations is all set to raise its stakes high as there isn’t one but a double bonanza with Tom Hiddleston marking his debut at the Emmys this year and Hugh Laurie turning evil for the small screen.
The show is called one of ‘James Bond’ of sorts but it is little known that Tom actually played James Bond already, well, in a way! He used his honeyed English accent and tones to record the audiobook for 007 novels Octopussy and The Living Daylights.

The 68th Primetime Emmy Awards will be telecast LIVE in India on September 19th across Star English Entertainment Network’s channels – Star World, Star World Premiere HD, FX and FX HD at 4:30 AM with a repeat telecast at 8 pm!
