Those who skipped Animal’s theatrical release are now catching up on the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer that dropped online over the weekend. Meanwhile, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga is working on its sequel, Animal Park. Industry sources reveal that the second instalment will go into writing in February.

While Vanga will shoot the cop thriller, Spirit, with Prabhas over the next few months, simultaneously the writing team of Animal Park will develop the script based on his plot outline. A source reveals, “Animal Park’s basic structure was ready right when Animal [2023] was written. It was meant to be a multi-film outing. The second part will focus on Ranbir’s character Ranvijay and his lookalike. The domestic feud between the protagonist and his wife Geetanjali will be taken forward, as will his relationship with his son. The idea is that while Sandeep shoots Spirit, he will take monthly updates on the script primarily being written by Pranay Vanga. He will actively work with the writers only in the second half of 2024.”

The plan perfectly falls in place with leading man Kapoor’s schedule, who has Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War. The source adds, “The two big-ticket productions will keep him busy till mid-2025. He will focus on Animal Park only next year.”
