Saira Banu, the renowned actress, recently shared her fond memories and admiration for her late husband, Dilip Kumar, while discussing their film Sagina. Saira reminisced about how Dilip Kumar, during the shoot in Gayabari, set up a badminton court for everyone, creating a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. She also shared stills and a clip from the film, describing it as one of her personal favorites and praising Dilip Kumar's captivating and enthralling performance.

In her heartfelt caption accompanying the post, Saira expressed her deep love for Sagina, a film based on the true story of the labor movement. She described Sagina, a factory laborer, as an honest, aggressive, and lovable character who was at the forefront of fighting against British tyranny in the tea gardens of Northern-Eastern India. As the story progresses, Sagina becomes a Welfare Officer and brings about justice.

Saira further revealed her joy when Dilip Kumar and the esteemed director Tapan Sinha collaborated on the film. She highlighted their strong friendship and like-mindedness, which created an atmosphere of ease and camaraderie during the shooting of Sagina in the serene outdoors of Gayabari. Saira fondly recalled how Dilip Kumar immediately set up a badminton court in the garden, encouraging the entire team to play together in the evenings and then enjoy singing and joking together in the cozy house.

She specifically shared a scene from the film that held personal significance for her. The scene depicted Sagina, a robust and outgoing man, sitting in his office, feeling bored and suffocated. He eventually steps out to breathe in the fresh air of the lush surroundings and spots a passing train. With exhilaration, Sagina matches the speed of the train, resulting in a mesmerizing performance by Dilip Kumar.

Released in 1974, Sagina was directed by Tapan Sinha and starred Dilip Kumar, Saira Banu, Aparna Sen, and Om Prakash, among others. It was a remake of the 1970 Bengali film Sagina Mahato, also directed by Tapan Sinha, with the same lead pair. Saira and Dilip Kumar shared a beautiful bond both on and off-screen, appearing together in several films such as Gopi, Bairaag, Sagina Mahato, and Duniya. The couple tied the knot in 1966, creating a lasting partnership that endeared them to fans and audiences alike.
