Rajkummar Rao recently made his music video debut with Achha sila diya, a recreation of the ’90s heartbreak song. So, imagine our surprise when he says that he doesn’t subscribe to the idea of remixes.

What made him give a nod to B Praak’s reimagination then? “I used to listen to the original song, back in the day. Unless a recreation is done with [an honest] intent and the same sentiment, I am not a fan.

For me, the intent is important,” says the actor, adding that the track will remind listeners of the Sonu Nigam hit. “The reason I said yes to it was that it had a new take to the song. So many things have been changed from the original, but the soul is similar.”

The single gave Rao an opportunity to reunite with Nora Fatehi after Stree’s (2018) dance number Kamariya. “She is one of the best dancers we have. I knew she would come this far.”
