The mixed reviews notwithstanding, Pankaj Tripathi is glad that Kaagaz, his first film as the lead, is reaching audiences far and wide. In telling the real-life story of a farmer who was declared dead on paper, the actor believes that the ZEE5 movie has made many aware of the loopholes in the system.

“A senior IPS officer and his wife sent a letter to me, saying that after watching the film, they understood that they have to be kinder and more sensitive to the cases that come their way. Sometimes, they feel that a case is small, but the film made them realise how it might be [significant] to the one fighting it. It’s overwhelming to see that my film has made such an impact,” says Tripathi.
The Satish Kaushik-directed venture explores a mature love track between the actor and Monal Gajjar, who plays his wife. Tripathi, who has often expressed his wish to explore romance on screen, says, “I have two love stories lined up. I am an unromantic boring person in real life, so I hope to explore romance through this medium.”
