The new generation of the Barjatyas has taken over the responsibility of carrying the production house's legacy forward. Sooraj Barjatya's son, Avnish S. Barjatya made his directorial debut with Dono which releases in theatres globally today (October 5). Not just the director, but the lead cast of the film is also a new crop of actors. Paloma Dhillon debuted with the new-age family entertainer along with Sunny Deol's younger son Rajveer Deol.

Paloma is the daughter of veteran actress Poonam Dhillon who was one of the most popular and active actors in the '70s and '80s. While she has chosen acting as her career, she was reportedly a football player in school. As per reports, there was a time when she wanted to become a professional footballer.

Paloma comes from a family that's deeply rooted in the film industry. Her mother, actress Poonam Dhillon, married film producer Ashok Thakeria in 1988. They have two children. Their son is named Anmol and their daughter is Paloma. The couple parted ways in 1997. The actress' brother, Anmol, is also an actor. He made his debut with Tuesdays and Fridays in 2021. After that, he is yet to announce his second film.

In an interview, Paloma revealed she had to go through a tough audition. Among 100 aspiring actors, she was the chosen one to play the central role of Meghna opposite Rajveer, whose character is named Dev.

Paloma reacted to the comparison with her mother Poonam in an interview with News18. She said, "I am aware people will compare me to my mother but every individual is different. I believe we have our journeys. I hope to create my own identity and I guess it goes the same with my co-star Rajveer. We want to prove ourselves and make our parents proud. They’re proud that we got this opportunity on our merit."

She further shared, "I didn’t want to be an actor when I was a kid. For the longest time, I didn’t know that my mother was an actor. So for me, the love for acting started in college when I did act for the first time. I started watching my mom’s films after a certain age. But yes I would dance to a few popular songs just for fun."
