Padmini Kolhapure: Priyaank’s style is more musical

As niece of legendary singers Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle, Padmini Kolhapure is only glad that her son Priyaank Sharma has ventured into music-making, professionally. Under the label Dhamaka Records, Sharma made his debut as a music entrepreneur with the track Hum Hindustani, last week, roping in artistes like Amitabh Bachchan, Shraddha Kapoor, and Tara Sutaria, among others. “When he told me he wanted to [create this label], I thought it was a fantastic idea from someone belonging to a music-family. Hum Hindustani was created to spread a positive vibe in  negative tunes [of the pandemic]. We wanted to highlight the desire to serve that was evident in a lot of people,” says the yesteryear actor.

Priyaank’s approach to releasing new tracks, she says, will be “more musical”. “There is a lot of talent around us, and with this record label, we plan to not only work with [established] artistes, but also [launch] new musicians who need a platform. We are currently working on more singles. Our next track will be out soon,” adds Priyaank.
