Ranbir Kapoor was last seen on the celluloid in Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘Sanju’, which completes three years today. The much ambitious and delayed Superhero trilogy ‘Brahmastra’ was slated for an Independence Day 2019 release that later became December 4, 2020. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, it has been delayed further and the new date is yet to be announced by the makers. He also has ‘Animal’ with Sandeep Vanga that comes out on Dussehra 2022. It also stars Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, and Parineeti Chopra.

Also in the pipeline is Luv Ranjan’s untitled with Shraddha Kapoor and Karan Malhotra’s ‘Shamshera’ with Sanjay Dutt and Vaani Kapoor. This was also slated to come out last year on July 31 but Covid-19 played spoilsport. Kapoor is said to have wrapped up major portions of Karan Malhotra’s action-adventure before the pandemic. Looks like he was checking on the post-production and VFX work.

Sanjay Dutt too plays a pivotal role in this period action drama set in 1800s, flaunting dacoit flick action. There is a patriotism angle thrown in too because it is about a tribe of dacoits that took on the British. Co-starring Vaani Kapoor, the film is directed by Karan Malhotra, known for his brand of larger-than-life action drama in 'Agneepath' and 'Brothers'.

Coming to Alia Bhatt, she too has one of the most promising line-up of films among her contemporaries. The first one is Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Gangubai Kathiawadi', this was supposed to arrive on September 11, 2020 but has been postponed and will now release on July 30 this year.

Also in the line-up is SS Rajamouli's 'RRR', which is slated to release on October 13, 2021, and Karan Johar's 'Takht', which was supposed to arrive on December 24, 2021, but is currently put on hold.  This period drama also has Anil Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh, Bhumi Pednekar, Vicky Kaushal, and Janhvi Kapoor. She also has her maiden home production ’Darlings’ lined-up which is co-produced by Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies and also stars Shefali Shah and Vijay Varma.

Coming to 'RRR', it's set against the backdrop of the pre-independence era in the 1920s. The movie is a fictional tale that narrates the journeys of Komaram Bheem and Alluri Seethrama Raju, played by Jr NTR and Ram Charan, respectively. The movie marks Alia Bhatt's Tollywood debut. She plays Sita opposite Ram Charan. 'RRR' sees Ajay Devgn in an extended cameo. The film will have a worldwide release on October 13, 2021 on the festive occasion of Dusshera.
