Stating that he has got OTT offers, Satyameva Jayate 2 director says will only pursue theatrical run
John Abraham with Divya Khosla Kumar and Milap Zaveri
Satyameva Jayate 2 was slated to hit screens on May 13. However, leading man John Abraham and the makers had to postpone the actioner, owing to the destructive second wave of the pandemic. In the four months since, several films have enjoyed digital premieres while director Milap Zaveri and his team patiently waited out the theatre shutdown. Now, as cinemas across the states are steadily reopening, the filmmaker promises a big-screen outing of his cop caper. “Satyameva Jayate 2 will not come on OTT. John too is of the same opinion,” he declares. “My producers believe that it must have a theatrical release, and I will be heartbroken if it has an OTT release.”

The director says the “dialoguebaazi-driven” movie is meant for the big screen. “John believes it’s a film for the masses, and can resurrect single-screen cinemas.”
Zaveri says that the team received lucrative offers from some OTT platforms, but the producers have taken a hard stand. “It may be tempting for producers to get swayed by the money offered, but Nikkhil and Monisha Advani, Madhu Bhojwani and Bhushan Kumar are passionate about cinema. When cinemas operate at full capacity all across the country, we will come with a bang. Sooryavanshi, 83 and Satyameva Jayate 2 will bring the audiences back to theatres.”
