Makar Sankranti 2024: On the joyous occasion, veteran actress Saira Banu reminisces about the good times she had with Sushila Aai, mother of Nanda Taai. In a nostalgic post, the actress recounts the beautiful hand crafter gifts given to her by Sushila Aiee and the wonderful memories made with her husband, the beloved Dilip Kumar.

Recounting this wonderful tradition, Saira Banu wrote "Til Gud Gheya andi God God Bola", As I reflect upon the memories of years gone by, my heart is filled with nostalgia, reminiscent of the tradition introduced to me long ago by Sushila Aaiee, the beloved mother of Nanda Taai; she presented me with beautiful hand-crafted gifts such as hand-bag made of green beads and small sequins boxes filled with Sankranti sweets and little notes for me treated me as her married daughter."

She further added, "I still recall those delightful moments shared with Dilip Sahib, savouring the essence of Makar Sankranti together. With the fond recollections of this festive celebration etched in my heart, I extend my heartfelt wishes to each and every one of you. May this Makar Sankranti be joyous for you all."

Earlier, while recounting the memories with Nanda Tai, Banu took to her Instagram and shared a long note with a throwback picture. A part of her note reads, “As time passed, I felt very comfortable in Nanda Taai's company for she was not ‘put-on” or pretentious in any way. We started to meet in our respective homes, she became very fond of my mother, grandmother and I was drawn towards “Sushila Aaiee” (Nanda Taai’s Mother) who like my own mother had given it all to bring up her family single-handedly.

The actress also wrote, "My home Mashallah has been synonymous with good Desi Cuisine and I discovered that both our families were fond of eating. At festivals we visited each other and Sushila Aaiee gave beautiful hand-made gifts to me. I still treasure a little hand-bag made of green beads and small sequins boxes filled with Sankranti sweets with a note “Til Gud Khawa Ani God God Bola”. It was evident that Sushila Aaiee treated me as a daughter.”
