Madgaon Express actor Divyenndu, who is flooded with comedy offers, explores diverse genres with a psychological thriller and a project on Tatkal ticket scam

One release in the first five months of the year doesn’t sound like much, but when it’s as impactful as Madgaon Express, no one is complaining. Divyenndu, however, promises that the audience will see more of him in the coming months. The actor has Rahul Dholakia’s Agni, which reunites him with Madgaon Express co-star Pratik Gandhi, and a Disney+ Hotstar series in the pipeline. “The show is tentatively titled Castle, where I play an uber rich guy who is struggling in life. I have another project called Tatkal, which is about the Tatkal ticket scam, where I am playing a Bihari character for the first time. I’ve also done a psychological thriller. You will see a lot more of me because I have worked non-stop for the past two years,” he shares.

The success of Kunal Kemmu’s directorial venture confirmed what we knew—that Divyenndu has a knack for comedy. But as he talks about his upcoming projects, it’s easy to see that sticking to the same genre is not his style. “It’s a defect in me that I like to do something different after I have worked in one genre,” he grins. Versatility is what he seeks. “Comedy offers keep coming in. I’m also known for being choosy. I take my own sweet time to commit to a project. It’s painful for people to approach me and I don’t blame them,” he laughs.
Has the box-office success of the Divyenndu, Gandhi and Avinash Tiwary-starrer changed things for him? The actor reflects, “When you prove yourself at the box office, people feel they can put money on you. I’m mindful that my producer must recover his money.”
